Phobia mania

Who comes up with these new "phobias"? Today, ABC News reports on Islamophobia beginning with an example from a November 2003 event in Paris. By classifying criminal activity as the actions of some ignorant individuals with irrational fears, we miss the real point. Criminal behavior is the result of personal choices.

Hatred manifested through violent acts against Muslims, Jews, Christians, the Fur or any other group is not a phobia of those people. Such behavior must be called exactly what it is and condemned. Moreover, by renaming such activity, it is implied that education and/or therapy will provide the means to correct this ignorance and eliminate the phobia.

When was the last time you heard an individual use the xenophobic defense? What we do hear is hatred toward a people group and it is then acted upon.

Gore in 2008?

This evening I'm watching Hannity interview Steve Robinson about the possibility of Gore running in 2008. Let's see, Gore couldn't win his own state; Hillary has already shown us that she would federalize the healthcare system; and Dean is the poster child for the wacko left. Yep, these three represent the "fly over" country. I would love nothing more than to see Gore, Hillary or Dean running as the Dems choice for the White House.

For those of you who worry about a single party system? Don't worry, another will rise from the Dems ashes.
